Cellist Woochan Jeong, who gained significant attention in the music industry as a rising star by winning awards at prestigious international competitions, made an impact at the 2022 Queen Elisabeth International Competition by securing a placement. Recently, he achieved 4th place at the International Paulo Cello Competition, receiving the special "Shadow Jury Award" that is presented to only one participant among the finalists. In addition, he proved his talent by winning 2nd place and the ISANGYUN Special Prize at the 2022 ISANGYUN International Music Competition.
Having graduated with the highest honors from the Korean National University of Arts under the professors Kang-ho Lee and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Woochan went on to complete his master's degree with Prof. Troels Svane at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, Currently, he is continuing his studies under Prof. Ishizaka Danjulo at the Universität der Künste Berlin(UdK).
Woochan Jeong made his debut at the age of 10 through the Kumho Young Artist Concert in 2009. Since then, he has achieved notable success in various competitions, including 2nd place at the 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, 1st place at the Sungjung Music Concours, and 2nd place at the Dong-A Music Concours. He has consistently demonstrated outstanding results in both domestic and international competitions, earning recognition such as the “Honorable Mention of the Jury” at the 2018 Prague Spring International Competition and a silver medal at the KBS & KEPCO Music Competition.
As a member of the Eden Quartet, Woochan actively engages in chamber music activities. Recently, he participated as a participant and performer at the prestigious "Rutesheim Cello Akademie 2023" in Europe, receiving widespread support from the audience. Additionally, he collaborates as a soloist with orchestras such as the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, and Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2023, he has been using the instrument "Giovanni Paolo Maggini, Brescia c.1600" sponsored by the Kumho Cultural Foundation.
