Márk Ember was born on January 16, 1993, in Budapest. His father is a surgeon, and his mother is a teacher at the Nikola Tesla Serbian School; however, both of them perform in their free time at the Serbian Theatre in Hungary. He has an older brother, László, and a younger sister, Léna. Like his parents, he attended the Nikola Tesla Serbian School, then graduated from Mihály Vörösmarty Secondary School as a student in the drama program. In 2012, he was admitted to the University of Theatre and Film Arts, studying under Gábor Máté and András Dömötör. In 2015, he completed his professional internship at the Vígszínház, where he became a company member after graduating in 2017.
He began making music at the age of 12 while still in primary school. He attended a music school in Pomáz, where he started learning the clarinet. Later, he joined a Serbian folk band, which led him to explore multiple instruments: first the tambura, then the accordion. In high school, he learned to play the guitar, and since then he has also learned piano and saxophone.
From 2017, he began to focus more seriously on music. A year later, in 2018, he released his first song and music video titled Better If You Left. The creativity of the video attracted many viewers, and even more were drawn by Juli Michl’s presence. In 2019, he released another track titled No, No, No, followed by You’ll Just Make It and If…. In 2020, he released Move On, with which he entered the Hungarian music competition A Dal. He advanced to the semifinals in first place based on audience votes and reached the top four in the final according to the jury. During the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, he released a new song titled There’s a Reason, encouraging people to stay home and do good.
Since then, Márk has become a member of another band. At the initiative of Béla Fesztbaum, the GRUND – Vígszínház Boys’ Band was formed, featuring well-known actors from The Paul Street Boys, including József Wunderlich, Áron Zoltán, Balázs Medveczky, as well as Béla Fesztbaum and Márk. They currently do not write their own songs, and their target audience consists of viewers of the stage adaptation of The Paul Street Boys. They debuted on May 1, 2017, at the Vígszínház, achieving great success, and have since performed concerts in several cities.
At the Vígszínház, his most famous role is the older Pásztor in The Paul Street Boys. Since 2020, he has been a member of the Thália Theatre, appearing in productions such as Parfumerie, Bullets Over Broadway, The Full Monty, and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery.
In addition to his theatre work, Márk also appears on screen. In 2015, he appeared in a few episodes of the second season of Summer Adventure (Egynyári kaland) as Misi.
In 2017, he played a minor role in the action film The Whiskey Bandit (A Viszkis), and also landed one of the lead roles in the telenovela Oltári csajok. His character, Kornél Herczeg, became one of the most popular in the series, quickly earning him audience recognition. The show ran for over a hundred episodes on RTL II. In 2018, he also appeared in the series Tóth János (broadcast on Duna TV) and had a smaller role in the film BUÉK. From 2019, he played a pop star, Alex Kozma, in the popular Hungarian series Just Theatre and Nothing Else (Csak színház és más semmi), and in the same year he also appeared as Milán in the series The Teacher (A Tanár).
Alongside acting, Márk also works as a voice actor. He has voiced characters in numerous series and films. Recently, he could be heard in well-known films such as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Spider-Man: Homecoming. In I, Tonya, starring Margot Robbie, he voices the sheriff; in Assassin’s Creed (2016), he voices Nathan, and his voice also appears in The Edge of Seventeen and Tulip Fever. He also provides the Hungarian voice for Denver in Money Heist.
In June 2019, the POKET pocketbook series released a new volume, Cirque du Freak, for which Márk Ember became the ambassador. During the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, he held live reading sessions from the book on Instagram and Facebook for his fans.
In 2023, he appeared in the series Valami Amerika.
In 2024, he can be seen in the films I Went Running (Futni mentem) and How Could I Live Without You? (Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled?).
