Ka Hou Fan

Ka Hou Fan, born and raised in Macau, graduated in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Fan started piano studies at the age of four and later changed to flute in the the Macau Conservatory with Mr. Liu Cheng. After winning the first prize in the Macau Youth Music Competition for flute in 2006, he was invited to perform as a soloist with the Macau Orchestra.

After one year of initial studies in Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Fan graduated in 2009 with “Diplo
̂me de Direction d'Orchestre in conducting and “Diplôme Supérieur dEnseignement in flute performance.

From 2010 - 2015, Fan studied orchestral conducting at the University of
 Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He also received the Erasmus scholarship to study orchestral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar in 2014. His mentors include Fabio Luisi, Bertrand de Billy, Uroš Lajovic, Simeon Pironkoff, Johannes Wildner, Mark Stringer, Nicolás Pasquet, Martin Hoff, Markus Frank and Dominique Rouits.

As a conductor, Fan has worked with orchestras like the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Gdańsk, the Jenaer
 Philharmonie, the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, the North Czech Philharmonic Teplice, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Massy and the Vienna Pro Arte Orchestra.
